Product notes
Piqueras Wild Fermented Verdejo is made with grapes from a unique vineyard plot that stands at more than 850 metres above sea level. Here we use organic farming methods to tend soils that are poor in nutrients and rich in limestone, and which receive little rainfall over the course of the year the year.
Production notes
Once the Verdejo grapes have reached ideal ripeness, in about the second week of September, they are picked at night. When they are back at the Bodegas Piqueras winery, the grapes undergo fermentation by means of wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks before being transferred to spend 3 months in specially selected 300-litre casks of fine-grained, lightly toasted French Allier oak. The wine is subsequently aged for a further 3 months in small stainless steel tanks, staying in continuous contact with its lees and with regular bâtonnage (stirring of the settled lees).
Tasting notes
Bright golden color. Complex and intense nose with exotic fruit, mineral notes and a subtle hint of oak. Creamy and elegant on the palate, with excellent natural acidity. Balanced and persistent finish.
