Product notes

Pommard is one of the most famous villages in the Côte de Beaune and produces only red wines. The brown/red soils are rich in hard limestone from the foothills and yield some of the most tannic and robust wines in Burgundy. The Premier Cru "Rugiens" is located in the south of the village. The dominant red color of the soil may be the origin of the name of this vineyard.

Production notes

Hand-harvested, with grapes sorted upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation maceration in temperature-controlled wooden vats for 18 to 21 days. Aged in oak barrels (25 to 35% new oak) for 14 to 16 months.

Tasting notes

The complex bouquet exudes intense aromas of red fruits (cherry, raspberry, etc.) combined with a very well-integrated smoky oakiness. On the palate, this dense and rich wine is balanced by a structure with elegant tannins. A truly classy Pommard with remarkable length.
