Castellina in Chianti, Tuscany Vines planted in 1990 Planting density: 5,000–6,500 vines/ha Yield: 65 tons/ha A selection of the best plots from the four Chianti estates, totaling approximately 50 hectares of vineyards. The Zingarelli family cultivates 108 hectares of vineyards in the Chianti region and 50 hectares of vineyards in the Maremma.
Production notes
Hand-harvested, carefully selected grapes. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 8 to 10 days, followed by 10 days of post-fermentation and skin contact. Malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks. Aged in French oak barrels (25–50 hl) for 2 years. Aged for 6 months in the bottle before release.
Tasting notes
A ruby red color that takes on garnet hues with age. On the nose, it is full-bodied, intense, and refined, with a wonderful array of aromas that blend beautifully with the flavors imparted by the oak barrels. On the palate, it is warm, robust, and elegant, with a lingering finish.
