Production notes
In 1988, the first bottle of Roccato was unveiled. This wine, conceived and crafted by Italo and Sergio, is made from equal parts Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and embodies the very essence of the winery’s journey. Roccato represents the meeting of the most typical characteristics of Sangiovese with the modernity symbolized by Cabernet and the oak barrels used for aging. The grapes are meticulously hand-selected before being vinified separately. They are then aged in French oak barrels for 9 to 14 months. The two varieties are kept separate throughout the process, and once blended, the wine is aged for an additional three months in 35-hectoliter barrels, followed by another year in the bottle.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with garnet highlights. A rich, lingering bouquet with notes of red fruit and spices such as cocoa, vanilla, and coffee. Full-bodied and well-balanced, with a robust structure and tannins that support the wine’s long finish.
