Product notes
Several hundred hectares spread across various estates in the Upper Douro: Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua, Quinta das Lages, Quinta da Vila Velha, and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas. Due to the harsh, continental climate that characterizes the Upper Douro, the vines are planted on terraces, held in place by low stone walls on the hillsides to optimize the use of soil and water resources.
Production notes
Like all Tawnies, this fortified wine is aged in contact with air and wood. It is aged in oak casks or barrels. The age statement refers to the average number of years spent in wood—between 10 and 19 years—of the various wines used in the blend prior to bottling. Graham’s is the only port house that still employs its own coopers and produces its own casks. The average age of the casks ranges from 75 to 100 years.
Tasting notes
It has a deep, brick-red color. Its complex aromas of nuts are complemented by hints of honey and figs. The fruity flavors are rich and ripe, beautifully rounded. It all comes together in a long, lingering finish.
