Product notes
Varied elevations, ranging from approximately 90 to 400 meters. Graham's is located in various prime sites throughout the mountainous Douro Valley. This wine was aged in oak at the Graham's 1890 Lodge for five years before being bottled. Grapes sourced from the estates: Quinta dos Malvedos (90.6 hectares of vineyards), Quinta do Tua (21.9 hectares of vineyards), with some contributions from Vila Velha (54.4 hectares of vineyards) and Vale de Malhadas (31.8 hectares of vineyards).
Production notes
Like all Late Bottled Vintages (L.B.V.), this fortified wine is aged in oak casks and barrels for a period of time (approximately 5 years) longer than “Vintage” ports (2 years), which continue to mature in the bottle. Unlike the latter, L.B.V.s are ready to drink now. Graham’s is the only port house that still employs its own coopers and produces its own casks. The average age of the casks ranges from 75 to 100 years.
Tasting notes
It has a rich, deep color. Graham's LBV has a delightful scent of honeysuckle, along with hints of mint. In the background, there are also lovely notes of tropical fruit. On the palate, it offers sumptuous aromas of ripe black fruit combined with hints of kirsch. The fine tannins give the port a beautiful balance and good structure.
